Translation Revision: 1-Hour Webinar for People with No Experience in Revision (General)

The webinar will introduce translation revision–the practice of identifying passages in translations that need to be changed in order to meet some standard of quality. The following topics will be covered briefly:  Revision as a reading exercise, not a writing exercise. The things revisers look for. Mistakes revisers make. How revision is organized in the translation industry, with emphasis on theconflict between achieving adequate quality and the time spent on revision. The possibly conflictual relationship between reviser and translator. Tech aids for revision, including generative AI.
